MS 6: 8 Days Lake Baringo - Lake Trukana Safari
The most saline of Africa's large lakes, Turkana is an outstanding laboratory for the study of plant and animal communities. The three National Parks serve as a stopover for migrant waterfowl and are major breeding grounds for the Nile crocodile, hippopotamus and a variety of venomous snakes. The Koobi Fora deposits, rich in mammalian, molluscan and other fossil remains, have contributed more to the understanding of paleo-environments than any other site on the continent.
Sibiloi National Park covers 1570 Km2 of wilderness scenic landscape on the shores of Lake Turkana. The park was partially established through the initiative of National Museums of Kenya to protect unique prehistoric and archeological sites some of which are linked to the origin of man.
The fossils include a crocodile Euthecodon brumpti, giant tortoile Petusios broadleyi, elephant Elephas recki and the petrified forest.
The terrain is lake shore, dry semi desert bush and near desert country. The park is waterless apart from the alkaline waters of the lake.
The expedition is in a purposely-built truck, this rugged 1,600 km safari to vanishing Africa tackles some of Africa's worst roads, crosses dusty deserts and high mountains and takes you to the sparkling waters of the Jade Sea Lake Turkana.

Day 2: South Horr:

We arrive at our permanent beach campsite just outside Loiyangalani soon after lunch and settle in our traditional Turkana huts with a cool breeze blowing from the lake. Indeed a perfect place to relax protected from scorching sun and heat characteristic of the harsh cliVSe of this remote area.
Day 4: Lake Turkana:
We spend the day relaxing and bathing only interrupted by a short boat excursion to visit the surrounding areas where crocodiles and birds may be spotted. In addition, we visit Loiyangalani and the community settled there while in the evening we may visit one of the Turkana Manyattas for traditional dances under a star studded sky at an extra cost if clients wish. Unforgettable experience.
Day 5: Maralal:
Up the Horr valley and back to Baragoi, camping further South at Maralal.
Day 6: Samburu:
We arrive at Samburu park around lunch time and settle in our Permanent campsite beautifully set under a canopy of trees on the edge of Uaso Nyiro River .
